Arora collaborating on NYC noise pollution project

TDA affiliate Anish Arora, professor of computer science and engineering and a specialist in sensor networks, is collaborating with scientists from New York University to examine noise pollution in New York City. Using machine learning, sensor networks designed at Ohio State, and data analytics, the NSF-funded initiative—dubbed the Sounds of New York City—will ultimately help decision-makers address urban noise, which in New York are frequently at levels the EPA considers harmful.
