May 18: Building Resilient Communities in a Changing Climate
The Ohio State University and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) will host a free forum on Friday, May 18, to discuss the challenges facing local infrastructure and the public health resulting from changing climate patterns. Faculty members trained by the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in TED-style speaking will deliver their final talks on Friday (5/18) at 11 a.m. in 115 Biomedical Research Tower. The event is open to the public. The TED-style training prepares participants to join the IDI speakers' bureau.
Our 2018 Environmental Professionals Network Signature Event will explore the concept of sustainable supply chains through the lens of reinvention. Dr. Nadya Zhexembayeva, Chief Reinvention Officer at WE EXIST Reinvention Agency, will introduce us to the need for reinvention to achieve an exceptionally sustainable supply chain.
InFACT is a proud co-sponsor of "Food Pyramid Scheme" with Christopher Carter, Assistant Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego. On April 16th, Carter will explore the structural inequalities that exist in the domestic food system for both producers and consumers, paying particular attention to the underlying sociological and theological assumptions that permit the current food system, whose shortcomings disproportionately affect communities of color, to be viewed as normative.
