Become an InFACT Affiliate

The Initiative for Food and AgriCultural Transformation (InFACT) at The Ohio State University welcomes internal and external affiliates at all levels of study or career progression who are working to secure resilient and sustainable food systems to assure the health and well-being of a growing world population in the face of unprecedented environmental change and constraints.

Our vision is a world in which agriculture and food systems are productive, resilient, sustainable and just, with healthy environmental resources and nourishing food readily available to all. By becoming an InFACT affiliate you are joining a team that bridges local innovation and global engagement to tackle food insecurity through focused interdisciplinary research and engagement with a broad array of statewide, national and international public and private-sector partners.

Faculty and staff affiliate benefits include:

  • Listing on the InFACT website
  • Membership on the InFACT listserv to keep you up-to-date on the work of the program
  • Invitations to InFACT and OSU events, including seminars, meetings, workshops, conferences and other food system programs
  • Notification of funding opportunities
  • Assistance with team grant proposals that align directly with InFACT goals
  • Research, teaching and engagement support
  • Networking and mentoring opportunities
  • Recognition of your achievements through InFACT communications vehicles
  • Particularly where service has been provided to InFACT in contributions to its strategic goals (service on committees or working groups, assistance with events, leadership of teams, etc.), support in Ohio State's promotion and tenure process

As a faculty or staff affiliate we expect you to actively engage in our community of practice with researchers and food system practitioners who are promoting vibrant, sustainable and resilient agricultural landscapes that place food at the center of just and vital communities in Ohio and beyond.

In particular, you are expected to:

  • Acknowledge your InFACT affiliate status on your public profile, in publications and in other scholarly output supported by InFACT
  • Communicate your research or other achievements with InFACT for promotion in our communications vehicles
  • Participate in InFACT events and engage with our community online
  • Pursue interdisciplinary research and outreach activities with affiliated colleagues in support of the strategic goals of InFACT
  • Participate in one of InFACT's hiring clusters to assist in the recruitment of new faculty

Student affiliate benefits include:

  • Listing on the InFACT website
  • Membership on the InFACT listserv to keep you up-to-date on the work of the program
  • Invitations to InFACT and OSU events, including seminars, meetings, workshops, conferences and other food system programs
  • Networking and mentoring opportunities
  • Recognition of your achievements through InFACT communications vehicles
  • Particularly where service has been provided to InFACT in contributions to its strategic goals, InFACT letter of recommendation for future job and graduate program applications

As a student affiliate we expect you to actively engage in our community of practice with fellow students, researchers and food system practitioners who are promoting vibrant, sustainable and resilient agricultural landscapes that place food at the center of just and vital communities in Ohio and beyond.

In particular, you are expected to:

  • Acknowledge your InFACT affiliate status on your public profile, in publications and in other scholarly output supported by InFACT
  • Communicate your scholarly achievements with InFACT for promotion in our communications vehicles
  • Participate in InFACT events and engage with our community online
  • Notify InFACT staff when your status changes from student to another category, or when your affiliation will end

Partner affiliate benefits include:

  • Membership on the InFACT listserv to keep you up-to-date on the work of the program
  • Invitations to InFACT and OSU events, including seminars, meetings, workshops, conferences and other food system programs
  • Research, teaching and engagement support

As a partner affiliate we expect you to actively engage in our community of practice with researchers and food system practitioners who are promoting vibrant, sustainable and resilient agricultural landscapes that place food at the center of just and vital communities in Ohio and beyond.

In particular, you are expected to:

  • Acknowledge your InFACT affiliate status on your public profile, in publications and in other communications regarding work that was supported by InFACT
  • Communicate newsworthy events and items with InFACT for promotion in our communications vehicles
  • Participate in InFACT events and engage with our community online
  • Collaborate in ways that best suit your organization's strengths with affiliated colleagues in support of the strategic goals of InFACT
