Center for Brain & Spinal Cord Repair

The CBSCR is not a patient care facility. They are primarily a pre-clinical research center that strives for novel discoveries that will improve the lives of people who suffer a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury. CBSCR Research Teams are working together to improve our understanding of the biology of brain and spinal cord injury and to develop new and effective treatments to promote recovery and improve quality of life.

Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention

Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, part of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Neurological Institute, conducts research, provides education and develops programs to improve the quality of life of persons who experience traumatic brain injury (TBI). The center serves individuals, families and professionals throughout North America, both as a TBI Model System and as the designated lead agency for the Ohio Brain Injury Program and the Star Behavioral Health Providers program.

The Belford Center for Spinal Cord Injury

The Belford Center for Spinal Cord Injury advances scientific research that will improve the quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries. This center will focus on the treatment of spinal cord injuries as a systemic disease to reduce the onset or impact of complications associated with spinal cord injury, including diabetes, inflammation or infectious, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases and other medical complications.

Center for Movement Disorders and Neuromodulation

The Center for Movement Disorders and Neuromodulation at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is one of the nation's leading centers in developing neuromodulation treatments for a wide range of diseases and conditions including Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia and obsessive compulsive disorder. Neuromodulation, which involves the use of implantable devices that alter nervous system activity through the use of electrical stimulation, is one of the fastest-growing medical specialties.

Ohio State Brain and Spine Hospital

The 87-bed, 60,000-square-foot hospital combines the talent and resources of doctors and researchers at Ohio State's Neurological Institute in one place. It includes specialized units for stroke care, neurotrauma and traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and spine surgery, epilepsy, chronic pain, acute rehabilitation and neurosurgery. In addition, our team offers services to treat patients with movement and neuromuscular disorders.

The Brain Injury Association of Ohio

The Brain Injury Association of Ohio helps individuals who have sustained brain injury, family caregivers and the professionals who work to create a better future through medical research and treatment. That help includes the important core services of:

  • Telephonic helpline staffed by a specialist in brain injury who provides individualized information, referral and support. Services to over 300 callers annually with assistance in resource identification, financial services, specialty care, housing and community support services.

  • Website and Facebook with over 10,000 users per year as a 24/7 source of information.

  • Community education through yearly conferences, current educational material and small group training on brain injury.

Nationwide Children's Hospital

The mission of the Neurodevelopmental Research Affinity Group is to facilitate research collaborations on neurodevelopment and neurodevelopmental disorders in children by increasing awareness of common research interests, creating new synergies in research methods, and broadening the scope and outreach of research activities in this area within Nationwide Children's Hospital and in association with The Ohio State University and the wider community.

Making Headway Podcast

The Making Headway podcast is hosted by Eryn Martin and Mariah Morgan, two brain injury survivors who happen to be good friends. Making Headway is a podcast created by two brain injury survivors in the hope that it would help others in the process of recovery. Their mission is to share brain injury-related information from multiple viewpoints without judgement, advocate for the brain injury community, and promote the open sharing of recovery journeys in the hope that it lends support to other survivors.

Buckeyes Raising Awareness in Neuroscience (BRAIN OSU)

Buckeyes Raising Awareness in Neuroscience is a student organization dedicated to providing support to those affected by neurological injuries and illnesses while increasing awareness and education within the Ohio State and Central Ohio community. They host an annual 5K/Walk for Brain Injury Awareness and partner with CBI for the development and funding of the NeuroNights program for brain injury survivors.
