College of Public Health at The Ohio State University invites applications for an anticipated tenure track position in the field of foundation of systems modeling, at the assistant professor to associate professor levels, to commence autumn semester 2016. The successful candidate will join a growing team of multidisciplinary faculty and staff committed to developing transformative, comprehensive and scalable systems science approach to model and predict health outcomes for those most at risk for poor health in Ohio. The ideal candidate will have systems expertise in health outcomes and systems based health policy research. Specifically, the candidate will have expertise in complex models calibration, validation and uncertainty quantification. The candidate will also have opportunity to teach undergraduate or graduate level data analytics related to candidate's areas of expertise. Joint appointments are possible and actively encouraged with other disciplines at OSU such as mathematics, statistics and biomedical informatics.
This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative “Translational Data Analytics” https://discovery.osu.edu/focus-areas/data-analytics/ which is assembling a critical mass of scholars who apply data analytics to scientific problems across all disciplines. Therefore, candidates who employ quantitative models and methods and who have experience working with large and/or complex data will receive preference in our deliberations.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Biology, Systems Engineering or a related field, by the start of employment, and to present evidence of excellence in teaching and research. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
