The Department of Management and Human Resources in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University is seeking applicants for a faculty appointment in Strategic Management with interests and expertise in the area of Social Entrepreneurship. This will be a full-time, tenure track appointment, to begin fall semester 2017 with research, teaching, and service responsibilities. We offer a salary and teaching load competitive with other major research institutions. The ideal candidate will conduct impactful research in the area of social entrepreneurship with an emphasis on fostering innovations that improve food security. Social entrepreneurship emphasizes efforts to maximize social benefits subject to business' rules and government constraints. Whereas traditional views of entrepreneurship may be concerned with the maximization of competitive advantage, growth, or profit subject to society's rules, social entrepreneurs seek to maximize social benefit subject to business' rules that require minimum levels of competitive advantage, cash flow, or profit. Applying theory and evidence from social entrepreneurship promises to help society achieve equitable and sustainable food production, distribution and access, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative, a significant investment that leverages the university’s expansive scholarly resources, creativity and shared commitment to make a global impact. The successful candidate will be part of a highly collaborative trans-disciplinary community of scholars and external partners working toward transformational solutions to sustainable and resilient food security. The successful candidate will initiate new transformative research, education and outreach with colleagues across campus and thus strengthen the university’s impact on resilient and sustainable food security. While teaching activities will be in the Fisher College of Business programs, candidates will be expected to perform cross-disciplinary research and activities.
Rank is open, although we have a preference for candidates with some experience and record of scholarly research. A publication record commensurate with experience is an important hiring criterion. Applicants with a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in hand are preferred. Preferred qualifications include evidence of involvement in successful interdisciplinary research teams and experience mentoring members of underrepresented groups.
