Discovery Themes Focus Area
The Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity (MI&I) in The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center College of Medicine and the Department of Veterinary Biosciences in The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine solicit applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in immunology.
These positions are part of a substantial university-wide investment (Discovery Theme) to significantly enhance cutting-edge research in immunology and infectious disease detection, treatment and prevention (http://discovery.osu.edu/focus-areas/infectious-diseases/). Successful candidates will also be expected to synergize with Ohio State's host-pathogen and immunology groups within existing University Centers and programs (e.g. cmib.osu.edu, phpid.osu.edu, oardc.osu.edu) to advance our role as national/international leaders in pathogens, innate/adaptive immunity, vaccines and biofilms/microbiota.
Applicants should have a PhD, MD, DVM or equivalent degree in Immunology, Microbiology, or related fields. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Candidates to the rank of Associate/Full Professor should have demonstrated research productivity and evidence of an independently-funded and sustainable research program, as well as experience working with interdisciplinary research teams. Candidates to the rank of Assistant Professor should have a successful postdoctoral training experience, interest in programmatic synergy with existing members of OSU faculty, and exhibit a superb record of research excellence.
Candidates with a research focus on the following areas of especially encouraged to apply
- Adaptive immunity to viruses
- Adaptive immune responses to pathogens and/or innate-adaptive immune cell interactions
- Vaccine strategies and technologies
