Description

Ohio State University College of Public Health Division of Environmental Health Sciences (http://cph.osu.edu/ ) and the College of Engineering Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering (https://engineering.osu.edu/ ) are conducting a joint search for a tenure-track faculty member with expertise in environmental health sciences. The position rank is commensurate with experience.

This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative (discovery.osu.edu), a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact. The successful candidate will be engaged in the Sustainable and Resilient Economy (S&RE) program (https://discovery.osu.edu/focus-areas/sustainable-economy) with a highly collaborative interdisciplinary community of scholars that is taking a holistic approach to understanding how production and consumption systems are linked to ecological systems, and how society can achieve more sustainable and resilient development. Candidates who have experience leading or participating in collaborative teams and performing interdisciplinary research that considers interactions among environmental, economic, and social systems are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas are sought: environmental and health impacts of new and existing materials; epigenetics; toxicology; contaminant fate and transport of contaminants; and human exposure and risk assessment. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with other faculty on interdisciplinary research projects, effectively teaching students, supervising and mentoring underrepresented groups and students, and involvement in service within the university and in appropriate professional communities. Rank, salary, and divisional home will be determined by the candidate’s credentials. An earned doctoral degree in a related discipline is required.
