Since 2002, Martha Belury has been the Carol S. Kennedy Professor of Human Nutrition at The Ohio State University. Before joining the faculty at Ohio State, she earned a B.S. in nutrition and dietetics and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Belury served on faculties at Montana State University and Purdue University, where she earned tenure. During the last two decades, she has mentored several dozen graduate students and post-doctoral associates. She has published more than 90 peer-reviewed research and scholarly articles on dietary fats, cancer, and energy metabolism. An elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, she has held positions in the American Society of Nutrition on the Medical Nutrition Council and was chair of the Carcinogenesis and Nutrition study section at the American Cancer Society. Dr. Belury serves as a peer-reviewer for grant panels for the American Cancer Society, National Institutes of Health, and the Pelotonia Fellowship committees as well as several scientific advisory boards for government, not-for-profit, and for-profit organizations. Her research has been funded by the American Institute for Cancer Research, the American Cancer Society, the USDA, and the NIH.
