In November 2015, Ohio State announced sustainability goals to guide the university's operations, teaching, research and outreach. The accomplishments after one year are numerous and include:

  • The hiring of more than 23 faculty members with expertise in sustainability, through the Discovery Themes initiative.
  • Establishment of the University Panel on Food Sustainability to increase purchase of local and sustainably sourced food to 40 percent by 2025. Casey Hoy and Brian Snyder, co-leads for the Initiative for Food and AgriCultural Transformation (InFACT), are helping direct the panel.
  • A commitment to sustainability in the classroom, where 340 courses focus on sustainability issues, and more than 700 feature sustainability topics.
