David Manderscheid assumed leadership of The Ohio State University College of Arts and Sciences in 2013; he previously was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of mathematics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Manderscheid received a BS in mathematics from Michigan State University and a PhD in mathematics from Yale University. He is a mathematician whose work in representation theory with applications to number theory has been widely published. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), cited for: distinguished contributions to number theory, outstanding service on national committees and conference organization, and exceptional commitment to the advancement of women and minorities. He also is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
